As you read this, Pam and I will be taking some vacation time.  It is such an encouragement to be able to recharge the batteries, but also to know that you are in good hands.  I am thankful for Nathan’s ability and willingness to bring a clear, biblical message every time he is called on.

Over the past few weeks we have spent some time looking at discipleship.  We have settled on the definition as “A personal, lifelong, obedient relationship with Christ, that transforms our character into Christlikeness, changes our values, and involves us in His mission.”

If you are saying to yourself, “I think the old man is repeating himself a lot’” then congratulations, you are paying attention. You see the whole point of discipleship is doing the right things, for the right reasons, and than continue doing them until Jesus comes back or we go to Him.

We are called as ordinary people to advance the Kingdom of God in an alien and hostile world.  We can only do that by allowing Christ to first transform our own lives, and then, giving ourselves completely to Him for His purposes.  The secret of discipleship is Lordship!  May He find us faithful!

Blessings,

Rick
