Rick’s Reflections- 9/23/2018

“Wonderful” is a good word! It simply means to be “full of wonder”! It is a good word to describe the Church Picnic last Sunday afternoon. We were gathered at a “wonderful” spot, (Allendale has so much to offer). We were blessed with a “wonderful” day, (Sunny with a slight breeze). We had a “wonderful” meal, (Thanks to the hard work of the fellowship team). By the way the mystery “Apple Surprise” was “wonderful” too! But the most “wonderful” part of the day was getting to spend it with so many of the Eastview family. Thank you all who took the time and put in the effort to encourage one another in the body of Christ.

As I reflected on the day there was another “full of wonder” moment for me personally. I wonder why more of our flock did not take advantage of this opportunity. Surely there are many who have physically challenging situations going on now and that is completely understandable. We are praying for you. Others have obligations that would keep them away and that is logical. Still there are others who not only missed out on the benefits of the day, they missed an opportunity to be a blessing to others as we spend time getting to know one another a little better. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining about this, I am only “wondering” out loud about what could be.

As we move forward it is my prayer that we will grow in number, but also in maturity as we “consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Heb 10:24-25)

Blessings,

Rick
