Our text today comes from Proverbs, a book written to enhance wisdom.  Over the past few weeks we have mentioned the need for wisdom as we look at both history and the future.  There will always be people lining up to tell us what is right, true, important, etc.  As Christians it is not only in our best interest, but part of what it means to be a Christ follower to discern the truth in all these messages.  There is no better place to gain help in the discerning process than in the Word of God.  The inspired author speaks of the tremendous benefits that come from seeing things from God’s perspective.  Read Proverbs 1:2-7 to get the amplified version of this idea.

As we continue to navigate these trying times let us never lose sight of the fact that our Lord knows the beginning from the end and that He is sovereign . Therefore there is hope for the future.  May we dedicate ourselves to being like those special “men of   Issachar who “understood the times and knew what to do.”  The best thing we can do during dark times is to “shine like stars”.  Paul tells the Philippian Christians why this is so important.  Read Phil. 2: 15-16.

Blessings,

Rick
