Today we are blessed to have Marty and Shelia Corey back home with us sharing about their significant work at Open Arms. Please take time to give them a personal word of thanks and encouragement and take some time to look at the material they are providing. As we think about ministering to children and youth allow me to pass on a few tips on talking to your kids about Christmas;

  1. Explain that this is Jesus’ birthday, and that’s why we’re celebrating.
  2. Talk about the holy family. Tell your kids about Mary, Joseph, the manger, the angels appearing before the shepherds, and more. Your kids will love it.
  3. Reveal what the Christian symbols mean — that the Christmas tree is an evergreen to show that Jesus’ love for us is always alive and that we exchange gifts to show how we love each other.
  4. Say why Jesus was born. This is the most important. God so loved the world that He sent His only Son for our salvation.

We are so blessed to have a God who loves us beyond our ability to understand and who desires to have a personal relationship with each of us as His dear children. That is worth celebrating.
