Rick’s Reflections- 12/25/16

One of the fascinating aspects of the birth of Christ was the drama of the trip to Bethlehem for Mary & Joseph. Luke’s gospel tells us that they had to make the trip to register for a census that would affect the taxes people would pay. It was not a good time for a trip but, you know, the government is just trying to help. The reality was it was commanded by Roman law and was therefore non-negotiable. But the  bigger reason was because it would fulfill the prophecy in Micah 5:2-5 that revealed the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.

I remind you of that, to remind you that, God is at work in the circumstances of our lives, on purpose. Just as in the Christmas events, God has a plan for us and He has the       power to do what seems impossible to us. God was at work then to secure our redemption and He is at work now to bless us and use us for His glory until Christ’s return. With that thought in mind it is no wonder the message “fear not” is so popular in the word of God. Take it to heart. He is on the throne, He’s got this, so trust Him. Peace on Earth!

Blessings,

Rick
