The History Channel does a, “This Day in History” where they find interesting facts about things that happened all over the world on that certain day. For example, on Jan.16th, the day I am writing this, these are a few of the things mentioned;

Prohibition is ratified by the States on 1-16-1919

Benny Goodman brings jazz to Carnegie Hall on 1-16-1938

Hitler descended into his bunker on 1-16-1945

The Persian Gulf War began on 1-16-1991

You get the idea. As interesting as some of that info might be, it is not something affecting all of eternity. On the other hand, the day our Lord returns will. It is the climax of history as we know it. On that day there will be no other stories, nothing else will matter. What a day. No wonder the faithful throughout the ages have looked forward with anticipation to this grand event. Our text today gives us some insights into the significance and also a mindset that should help us navigate the days between now and “that day”.

It is my hope and prayer that you are not only ready but actively helping others get ready as well.

Listening for that “Shout”!
