Several years ago, the Barna Group released a survey on how we see the world.  They asked respondents about their beliefs on a number of different topics, all of which were  considered essential for a truly Biblical worldview.  The results of this survey were disheartening: only 4% of Americans gave Bible-based answers to all the questions.  Of those who claim to be born-again believers, only 9% had a Biblical worldview!   This is understandably upsetting, but not surprising.  We’ve known for a while that Christians in the western world have become complacent and too eager to settle.

But what does any of this have to do with the sermon topic today?  One of the questions asked in the survey was “Is Satan real?”.  There is no doubt that there is a lot of evil in the world and that we all struggle with many trials and temptations.  But the question is whether or not there is someone BEHIND the evil.  To some that may seem like an insignificant difference, but it can drastically affect how we approach our life and our faith.
